There some spectacular routes you can take and an extensive network of trails spread out over all of the islands. The Islands have become a popular choice for walking holidays. Visitors have the chance to see landscapes and vegetation that are completely unique to this part of the world.
Many of the trails have been restored in recent years, attracting enthusiasts from all over Europe and beyond.
Each island has a completely unique landscape; you can choose to walk through the Montaña del Fuego in Lanzarote; the lunar landscape rock formations of Tenerife, or you can experience the botanical wealth of the laurel and Canary Island pine forests.
You can also just cross the countryside without using any of the designated routes. This is what trekkers normally do. You'll need basic orientation skills and all the right equipment - compasses, maps, mobile phones etc. This is often one of the best ways to explore this fantastic countryside; it gives you a great sense of adventure! |
