Head west of Puerto Rico and you'll come to the idyllic village of Puerto de Morgan, also known as the "Venice of Gran Canaria" because of it many canals.
It's a small, relaxed and friendly place. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafés here, all along the harbour. The thing to eat is definitely fish; guaranteed fresh, given the amount of fishing boats and proximity of the ocean!
The only problem is, it can be a bit pricey, but if you go slightly inland from the sea you'll find some very nice local restaurants with much more reasonable prices.
