The Island of Tenerife is the biggest of the Canary Islands (otherwise known as the Canaries ) archipelago in Spain. It measures 2000 kms2. It is the highest point in Spain with the Teide Mountain peak being 3,718 meters in height, the most elevated point on the Iberian Penninsula surpassing the Mulhacen in Granada. It's population is of 900,000 inhabitants.
The island of Tenerife in the Atlantic Ocean is surrounded by the Canary Island Archipelago in Spain. Some of the islands are La Gomera and La Palma. These islands together with El Hierro and Tenerife make up the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife along with the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. It is a vocanic Island with it's highest point being the Teide mountain a huge volcano. The island is just 300 kms from Africa and 1300 from the Iberian Penninsula.
